
Hello Cubies! The indie field is something that we really appreciate here at GlitchCube and we wanted to take a look back at how it all exploded into the field. At first we wanted to just do an episode on game jams, but after doing some research and seeing the incredible list of games that came from game jams this became more of a history lesson on indie games. Without game jams we wouldn't have games like Celeste, SuperHot or The Binding Of Issac. The core concept for these games were developed in a very short amount of time, some only 48 hours while others were developed in a week. But either way this is an incredibly short amount of time to develop a game. But these restrictions on time force the designers to really focus in on what makes the game fun and push their games past fake boundaries that we have set in the gaming field. Luckily now game jams are so well known that at any given weekend you can find one going on, pushing genres and testing limits to continue to give us amazing indie games!
